OC IFMA 2011 Holiday Party – Recap
December 15, 2011 – Sandy’s Beach Grill, Huntington Beach was the location of the annual Orange County  Chapter IFMA Holiday Party. The surf and sand provided a relaxing atmosphere for some great networking as members arrived in their ‘ugliest’ sweater to compete for a prize. Gary Bittner from SERVPRO of Tustin won hands down, complete with lights and holiday décor – everyone agreed: Ugliest Sweater – ever!! Thanks to everyone who had the courage to participate.
The ‘ice breaker’ activity offered everyone a chance to match up a facility issue with a good vendor to help them. All vendors were fellow members of the chapter so a little plug for the Business Partners!! .jpg)
The 50/50 ticket sales were up and the winners were VERY happy as they shared over $250 w/ the chapter, with a good portion being donated back to the IFMA Foundation that supports scholarships. Everyone seemed to enjoy the buffet of chicken, salmon, rice, salad, and some scrumptious desserts including coconut macaroons that melted in your mouth.
Many members donated toys for the annual Toys for Tots drive. Sandy’s Beach Grill so graciously offered to add these toys to THEIR stash and even deliver them for us to the local depository.
August 2011 General Meeting
 "What Keeps an FM Up at Night?" was the intriguing subject of our one of our most successful chapter meetings August 18th at the Villa in Orange. A panel of six Facility Managers from major Orange County companies answered some challenging and stimulating questions such as, “What is the greatest ‘on the job’ challenge you have faced in the last two years and how did you deal with it? What changes have you already seen in your responsibilities, or the expectations of your company, and how have you adjusted? What do you think your job description will look like three years from now, and how will you prepare?
The answers coming from our six panelists from ScanHealth, Parker Hannifin, Raytheon, ECCU, Yum Brands, and Pacific Sunwear provided surprising answers which led to more questions from our audience and many post meeting discussions! Of all our recent program meetings, this one got our attention aand FM's, and provided invaluable insight to our Business Partners as well. This was a not to be missed event!
