Operation Christmas Child: Over two dozen boxes were filled and submitted to this worthwhile organization. Thanks to all who participated.

Chapter members Diane Coles-Levine and Bill Conley were both awarded the prestigious "Distinguished Author" award at the Awards of Excellence celebration at World Workplace in San Antonio last week. Diane is an editor and contributor to the "Work on the Move" project published by the IFMA Foundation. Bill is a frequent contributor to the FMJ (Facility Manangement Journal) and authored the article titled Green Speech to win his award. Congratulations to both of you for your contribution to facilitiy management.

Congratulations to John Hufferd who was awarded a scholarship to obtain his SFP designation. The scholarship was made possible by a generous donation from Intex Solutions and Universal Protection Service.

IFMA Headquarters in Houston is moving. The lease on their existing space ends in December of this year (2012) so the Senior Leaders' Team has decided to look for new space. The plan is to have the most sustainable buiding possible. IFMA is looking at many of the rating systems on the market to compile a comprehensive list of initiatives that are achievable. This includes energy & water conservation, Workplace Strategies and optimum indoor environmental quality. A survey to measure members' input was on-line and the results are posted on the IFMA web site. Progress on this relocation process is also available.

Chapter member Bill Taylor has recently landed a new position as Senior Director of Facilities Management at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena. Congratulations to Bill.

RMC Facilities Services Inc. is hosting classes to help attendees understand the LEED Certification & Accreditation processes. Bill Conley CFM. CFMJ, LEED AP IFMA Fellow is currently holding training sessions on these subjects every two weeks at RMC's Building in Northern Anaheim. A review of necessary information related to LEED Accreditation & Certification is offered for individuals interested in these programs. Access to a website is supplied free to attendees, with sample questions and tests for areas of interest. This is a lunchtime meeting and lunch is provided at no charge. All it takes is your time and desire to learn. Attendance is limited to 12 individuals so call RMC now at 714 996 6800 to get signed up for free classes that may further your professional development.
